SIXTIES ICON'S FIRST CROP SELL WELL AT THE DBS PREMIER YEARLING SALE
Doncaster's Premier Sale, the year's first and often most informative domestic yearling auction, made a sparkling start yesterday with a session as notable for its consistent clearence rate as any high prices. Amanda Skiffington made a couple of significant purchases, one of them being a superb filly (for £28,000) by first crop sire Sixties Icon (Galileo) out of Indiannie Moon (Fraam) who is a full sister to Listed Stakes Placed Indiannie Star (Fraam) and a half-sister to Silver Guest (Lujain) and the 8 x time winner & dual Group Placed Ajigolo (Piccolo).

MCVICAR IS UNLUCKY FOR HIS DAM ARIES (BIG SHUFFLE) WHO CURRENTLY RESIDES AT NORMAN COURT STUD
Mcvicar (Tobougg), a 5th foal who was bred by the late John Breslin, and a half brother to 6f 2yo winners Jinky (Noverre) and Planet Red (Bahamian Bounty) was a little unlucky when finishing 2nd, beaten 1 length at Newcastle in the Class 2 Santander Foundation Blaydon Race (Nursery) on Bank Holiday Monday. He stayed on well, certainly looked set to run the winner close, when denied a run against the rail. He was unlucky, but may gain compensation with possible a little further to suit...

CHILWORTH LAD WINS IMPRESSIVELY AT NEWBURY FOR HIS SYNDICATE 7RUS
Raised and consigned by Norman Court Stud, Chilworth Lad (Diktat) recently won the Shadwell "Nunnery Stud" Conditions Stakes over 7 furlongs in great style at Newbury on Saturday. He came from last to first and showed a pleasing attitude once in front. He did not stay 1m in the ultra-competitive Britannia Handicap at Royal Ascot but had been running well at this trip previously, in which he was Stakes Placed at Epsom in a Listed contest, and should continue to pay his way. Currently rated around the 98 mark and if improves, he may be off to Dubai for the 2012 Carnival!
Congratulations to all connections.

Lot 411 A Bay Colt by Bahamian Bounty ex QUICKSTYX (SOLD 40,000 GNS)
There was plenty of interest in John Breslin's BAHAMIAN BOUNTY colt out of his NIGHT SHIFT mare QUICKSTYX following updates in the month of October which included the win of his DUBAWI half-sister WATNEYA at her only start for William Haggas and the sale of his SINGSPIEL half-brother at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale for 130,000 guineas. Interest in the colt, came from agent David McGreavy and Rathasker Stud’s Maurice Burns but it was Oaks Farm Stud’s Mark Dwyer, standing alongside Willie Browne who proved successful at 40,000 guineas. "He is a well-related horse," said Browne of the Norman Court-consigned son of BAHAMIAN BOUNTY. "His half-sister [HAIRSPRAY] got to a rating of 94 and there is also a DUBAWI three-year-old to run for us next summer so hopefully that will dig us out. "This was probably as much as we should have spent on this horse, but I am sure that foals will be dear enough by Friday so I think we have bought well," smiled Browne, who added that he will be eligible to collect a pension in 2011! "The plan," continued Browne, "will be to bring this chap back here next autumn."

Weaning at Norman Court Stud is now completed. It consisted of a total of 27 foals and the procedure was the same as last year , in that we take the mares away from the foals at around five to six months of age. WINKER WATSON HAS ARRIVED AT NORMAN COURT STUD
We are proud to announce that 'Dual Group 2 Winning Speedster by Piccolo, 'Winker Watson' has arrived at Norman Court Stud.'
One of the leading two-year-olds of the 2007 Flat season, has been retired to stand at Norman Court Stud where he will begin his career as a stallion next year at a fee of £3,500.
The 16.1hh son of Piccolo was purchased as a yearling for 56,000gns by Blandford Bloodstock on behalf of The Comic Strip Heroes syndicate, who named him after a character in The Dandy.
Trained by Peter Chapple-Hyam, he was unbeaten as a juvenile, winning his maiden over 5f at Newbury, the Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot, and the July Stakes, in which he produced a devastating turn of foot to overcome a low draw and come from last to first to score. He was also carrying a 3lb penalty in the Newmarket Group 2 event.
Those efforts earned him a Racing Post Rating of 116 and quotes as low as 10-1 in ante-post betting lists for the 2,000 Guineas. Though he missed the first Classic of the season, he posted a highly creditable effort when beaten three and a half lengths into fourth by Henrythenavigator in the Sussex Stakes. This year he has failed to find his true form, finishing unplaced in three starts.
Winker Watson showed outstanding form as a two-year-old, with two Group 2 wins to his credit, and he was a worthy fancy for the 2,000 Guineas. "He is a nice, strong individual, tidy and well put-together. He was described by Peter Chapple-Hyam as one of the best two-year-olds he had ever trained, while his regular jockey Jimmy Fortune said he was genuine with lots of speed.
Private viewings available now, please contact Norman Court Stud.
"Live Video of Winker Watson and what Peter Chapple-Hyam and Jimmy Fortune say, coming soon." You will be able to view it under the Stallions Page.
